Our client is looking for a dynamic and driven individual to join our team as MGA Portfolio Relationship Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting portfolio growth and profitability objectives through the development and expansion of our delegated authority distribution channels. This includes our Managing General Agent (MGA) Portfolio and other strategic partners. Having proven business acumen along with relevant underwriting, product and pricing experience, this role will specialize in connecting the needs of our external partners with their Specialty Lines Solutions product suite, which includes Property & Liability, Equipment Breakdown, Technology & Cyber and Professional Liability.

How you will create impact:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with external partners, marketing Sovereign’s unique value proposition and capitalizing on opportunities for viable insurance solution expansion. This includes attending client meetings, conducting presentations or workshops.
  • Engaging and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders to execute on the MGA and Strategic Partnerships portfolio strategy and supporting the successful identification and adoption of insurance solutions.
  • Monitoring trends or shifts in the market and customer landscape; making recommendations to adjust and change business plans and priorities to ensure that both short and long-term strategic objectives are met.
  • Working with members of the MGA portfolio team, and other product teams to utilize underwriting expertise to develop the parameters, guidelines, and authorities for new or expanding partnerships and ensuring it is set up for success.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for issues or concerns between distribution partners and our client, managing escalation and resolution processes.

To join our team:

  • 7-10 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a strong understanding of the Canadian Specialty Lines insurance marketplace; products, distribution channels, practices and processes.
  • Experience working with delegated authority partners, such as Managing General Agents (MGAs) and program administrators.
  • A strong business acumen, creative problem-solving ability, and high affinity for building relationships.
  • Ability to communicate and present information effectively to a variety of audiences.
  • Exceptional ability to build cross-functional business partnerships.
  • Post-Secondary education in related field preferred.
  • CIP/FCIP/RPLU and/or CRM designations an asset.
  • This position primarily works with majority non-francophone groups, and teams located outside of Québec, and requires proficiency in English. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

  • You will handle sensitive information where a high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required.
