POSITION OVERVIEW

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled individual to join our team as a Directors and Officers (D&O) Underwriter. As a D&O Underwriter, you will be responsible for assessing and evaluating the risks associated with insuring Directors and Officers of companies against potential claims, while maintaining profitability for our organization. Your expertise in underwriting and risk analysis will be critical in determining appropriate coverage and pricing for D&O insurance policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on potential D&O policyholders by analyzing financial statements, corporate governance practices, industry trends, and other relevant factors.

·       Evaluate the likelihood and severity of claims that may arise against directors and officers.

·       Underwriting Policies: Develop and implement underwriting policies and guidelines for D&O insurance coverage. Collaborate with the senior management team to establish and review underwriting strategies that align with business objectives and risk appetite.

·       Policy Review and Analysis: Review and analyze D&O insurance applications, policy renewals, endorsements, and related documents to determine the level of risk and potential exposure. Evaluate coverage terms, limits, exclusions, and endorsements to ensure compliance with established underwriting guidelines.

·       Pricing and Rate Determination: Assess risk factors and market conditions to determine appropriate premium rates for D&O insurance policies. Utilize actuarial tools, historical data, and market insights to establish competitive pricing while ensuring profitability and risk management.

·       Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and other stakeholders involved in the D&O insurance market. Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including sales, claims, legal, and compliance, to ensure smooth underwriting processes and timely resolution of issues.

·       Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to D&O insurance underwriting. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including filing necessary reports and maintaining documentation.

·       Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and new business opportunities within the D&O insurance market. Provide insights and recommendations to management for product development and enhancement.


REQUIREMENTS:

·       University Related Degree

·       3+ years of underwriting experience

·       CIP/FCIP designation or in progress

·       Strong analytical aptitude and critical thinking as demonstrated through work assignments.

·       Ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions.

·       Proficient with underwriting analytical tools and technology

·       Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.

·       Oral and written bilingualism an asset (English /French)

·       Superior customer service skills and business acumen

Computer skills that including Microsoft Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Applied EPIC
