The Opportunity

Our client, a growing insurance brokerage, is seeking a motivated Commercial Insurance Business Development Executive to join its commercial insurance team.

This role is focused on developing new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and providing strategic insurance solutions to commercial clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the sales process from prospecting through implementation while collaborating with internal specialists to deliver exceptional client experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new commercial insurance opportunities through networking, referrals, strategic outreach, and relationship-building activities.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective clients.
  • Conduct discovery meetings to understand client operations, exposures, and insurance requirements.
  • Develop and present customized insurance and risk management recommendations.
  • Consistently work toward achieving individual growth and revenue objectives.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with business owners and key decision-makers.
  • Provide consultative advice regarding insurance solutions and risk management strategies.
  • Support clients throughout the onboarding process and ongoing relationship lifecycle.
  • Conduct periodic account reviews to identify emerging needs and opportunities.

Insurance Solutions & Placement

  • Collaborate with internal teams and insurance markets to develop competitive insurance programs.
  • Assist with proposal preparation, coverage analysis, and solution design.
  • Coordinate the placement of new business and support renewal strategies.
  • Ensure client recommendations align with risk exposures and business objectives.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with service teams and technical specialists to ensure seamless client experiences.
  • Maintain strong relationships with insurer partners and other industry stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on market developments, product changes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial insurance, business development, or a related client-facing sales environment.
  • Active insurance license or ability to obtain required licensing.
  • Proven success in prospecting, networking, and relationship-based sales.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team culture.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and standard business software applications.
  • Experience within a commercial insurance brokerage environment is considered an asset.

Salary Information

Compensation for the successful candidate will be determined by our client and may vary based on several factors, including local market conditions, geographic location, and job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, experience, education, and credentials.

Expected salary range: $45,000.00 – $80,000.00 annually + commission.
