Senior Programs Leader
Description:
- Underwrite and service a growing book of mainly delegated underwriting portfolio business, including risk selection, coverage negotiation, pricing adequacy and referrals all in accordance with designated underwriting authorities and company guidelines.
- Actively solicit and grow the book of business, striving to exceed targets annually
- Reviews and processes changes to existing delegated programs to maintain compliance with company underwriting philosophy.
- Participate in the Cover holder audit process.
- Co-ordinate with the carrier’s actuarial team for new business and renewal reviews.
- Identify, analyze, and develop sources of new business; assists in developing marketing strategies for new or improved products and programs
- Liaise with internal Business Development team to enhance growth opportunities within the segments/programs
- Partner with peers and carriers in other product lines to leverage new business opportunities.
- Establish and maintain superior business and service-oriented partnerships, regular and frequent attendance at client broker events and industry conferences.
- Maintain market intelligence, business insurance trends and industry knowledge.
- Mentor and grow the team to ensure the customer experience is exceptional
- Strategize with the Director | Commercial Lines to enhance and grow each program offering
Brokerage Operations & Client Service
• Manage the day-to-day servicing of assigned programs, including renewals, new business, endorsements, and policy changes.
• Prepare renewal proposals, binders, and required documentation for brokers and clients.
• Coordinate with brokers and clients regarding program onboarding and policy implementation.
• Advise brokers and clients on coverage options, program features, and industry best practices.
• Work with Claims and Risk teams to ensure timely submission and resolution of claims.
• Communicate regularly with underwriters to clarify program parameters, terms, and conditions.
Business Development & Program Growth
• Drive program growth by identifying opportunities, influencing broker and client behavior, and collaborating with internal teams to achieve business targets.
• Proactively manage relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders to maximize account penetration.
• Take ownership of assigned programs, living and dying with each account’s results; make proactive recommendations to improve program performance and client satisfaction.
• Communicate consistently with sales and marketing teams to align efforts, share insights, and secure buy-in for program initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong understanding of commercial lines programs and brokerage operations.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and program portfolios simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with brokers, clients, and internal teams.
• Analytical mindset with ability to assess program performance and make actionable recommendations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with policy administration systems or broker portals is preferred.
Qualifications
• 7–10 years of commercial insurance experience, ideally with program management in a brokerage environment.
• RIBO license preferred.
• Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field.
• Professional designations such as CAIB, CIP, CRM preferred.
• Demonstrated success in program growth, client relationship management, and leadership.
